Individual Support, Advocacy and Empowerment
- Confidential sessions and ongoing support in English & Spanish for more than 800 women in transition that offer hope, compassionate listening, resources, education, and goal-setting for women navigating challenging circumstances in their lives and seeking to move forward.
- 70% of the women who seek individual support experience poverty and/or violence. Many of the women also face the daily challenges related to illness, loss, immigration, unemployment, discrimination and homelessness.
- Services are offered by donation and no woman is turned away for inability to pay.
Building Safe & Healthy Relationships
- “Juntas en Transicion,” Pierce County’s only ongoing domestic violence prevention and support groups offered in Spanish, focuses on safety, healing, education, parenting, self-care, community building and resource development.
- Our CARE Course, Nonviolent Communication, and Trauma-Informed Care workshops support women in developing healthy self-care practices and empowered communication skills.
Personal and Spiritual Growth
- Weekly groups include Women Spirit Circle, Alanon, and Women’s AA.
- Healing Arts opportunities in Healing Touch, Reiki, biomat, and tapping address issues of grief, loss and trauma and to honor the vital mind-body-spirit connection.
- Creative Arts experiences include SoulCollage, gardening, and music, build community and feed the soul.
Leadership & Community Building
- We-Can and Si, Se Puede Circles, provide leadership education and empowerment circles focusing on education, employment and entrepreneurship.
- Full Voice, personal and group exploration and practice using the full range and power of women’s voices for individual, family and community advocacy
- Justice Circles, leadership and empowerment group focusing on community needs.

By providing long term advocacy, support and holistic programs for women, Catherine Place’s work complements community partners that focus on crisis intervention and meeting immediate safety, health and legal needs.
Catherine Place regularly hosts visitors from across the U.S. that wish to experience our unique model which addresses the needs of mind-body-spirit. We also host women leaders from across the world through the ongoing relationships of our participants with Heart for Zambia and Maher Ashram.
